Kura Prophetic Messenger Dedication
You are invited to the blessing and dedication of “Kura: Prophetic Messenger,” the inaugural sculpture of the Jon Hassler Sculpture Garden. The sculpture was created by Artist-in-Residence Richard Bresnahan, and the scroll was made by yours truly! This public artwork connects art, architecture, and the natural world to the history and values of the Saint John’s community.
In collaboration with Richard Bresnahan, I designed and letterpress printed a 36 page scroll of the Rule of Saint Benedict. I also carved linoleum blocks with images inspired by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict and artists of the region.
Framed individual pages as well as one of the six scrolls in existence will be on display at the dedication for people to get a close look into this amazing project I got to be a part of.
This project took over 9 months to complete and involved many interns and input from some of the Sisters at Saint Benedict.
Richard and his team published “Kura: Prophetic Messenger” a 244-page volume documenting the process of these creations that will be available to purchase at the reception.
There will be a light reception to follow the dedication in the Fireplace Forum of the Dietrich Reinhart Learning Commons and the first floor of Alcuin Library.
RSVP by Friday, October 15th to Megan Evens – 320.363.2611 or firstname.lastname@example.org
